What is the Promise?

The Capital Area Promise is an education initiative to create more college and career pathways for students in the Baton Rouge and its surrounding communities. It is a collaborative effort of LSU, Southern University, Baton Rouge Community College, EBR Schools, and many partners including the Mayor-President of Baton Rouge. The Promise leverages existing and new programs from each institution in the areas of academic achievement, access, affordability, and teacher preparation. Read more about the Promise.

Ways to Partner

  • Bring students to our company/business
  • Volunteer at a school
  • Provide internships for high school students
  • Promote college and career readiness in school projects
  • Encourage seniors to complete the FAFSA
  • Offer training to educators on workforce needs
  • Establish or support scholarship efforts
  • Increase dual enrollment opportunities
  • Sponsor a CAP program
  • Support ACT or SAT programs in the community
  • Consider WorkKeys credentials for hiring
  • Get involved as a parent or mentor
